Exploring Turkey's

The Rio Turkey

The Rio Grande turkey, often called the Rio turkey, is a subspecies of wild turkey native to the central and southern plains of the United States, especially Texas and surrounding states. It is known for its striking plumage, with a mix of iridescent bronze, brown, and black feathers, and the males have impressive fan-shaped tails and colorful wattles. Adapted to grasslands and open woodlands, Rio turkeys are agile foragers, feeding on seeds, insects, and plants, and are admired for their alertness and strong, social behavior.
